We save wood
Since 1991, our mission has been to salvage, re-purpose and re-use as much of the old wood on the planet as we possibly can. Back then, it was just beginning to be clear that the original, primeval, old-growth forests were almost gone. Along with them, of course, went the source of the best woods. High quality, dense, clear wood comes from big trees that were often centuries old when they were felled. So we took it upon ourselves to seek out and save the last sources of this high-quality wood. The sources are typically pre-WW II industrial wooden infrastructure; mills and factories, bridges, warehouses, railroads and ports.

At Elemental Republic, we seek out unique sources of reclaimed wood, mostly in the tropics, where the wood is harder, stronger and more beautiful than in the temperate regions. We salvage wood from aging industrial infrastructure, factories, warehouses, bridges and railroads and transport it to one of our mills where it is given a new lease on life by being carefully and artfully transformed from tattered old wood into stunningly beautiful products that are manufactured to industry standards, ready for installation and use. We leverage a large and carefully tended global network of suppliers and manufacturers to produce our products. We offer you distinctive, high quality products and service and, because of our decades of experience and network of resources, we are able to do this in a surprisingly affordable way.
