Ulin is one of the most extraordinary woods in Southeast Asia. Its slow growth rate creates a dense wood that qualifies it as an “ironwood”, one of the world’s rare woods that sinks when placed in water. Ulin trees can live to be over 1,000 years old. The durability of Ulin lumber and the beauty of its grain pattern and color makes it prized in the regions it grows. Ulin is indigenous to Indonesia and has been used for centuries in all types of construction, because it is one of the few species that can withstand the rigors of a tropical environment.

It is also endangered due to over-harvest and is heavily protected. Post-consumer reclaimed Ulin is arguably the only responsible way to use and enjoy this incredible wood.

We manufacture to precise, export quality standards. No small feat with wood this dense.
